Ben and Christy Bykowski's Wedding: September 23, 2006

Christy and Ben on a Sailboat with Sunset

What an exciting time we had with everyone at the wedding! We would like to offer a big THANK YOU to everyone who made the long trip and to everyone who came to help us celebrate! We can't thank you enough for making our wedding weekend the very special event that it was. Our photographers we busy snapping shots the whole time, so be sure to check the Photo Album for pictures of yourself!

The weekend started with a party on Friday night at the Crescent Tavern. Ben's stepfather's band, Slow Burn, played jazz and blues. The gathering gave everyone more time to visit, and was a lot of fun! A good number of our guests made a weekend out of the wedding, and were able to join us for Friday's festivities!

We feel we are truly blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful friends and family, which created a large wedding party for us! Ben had 7 groomsmen and 2 ushers standing up for him. His best man, Eric, and friends Thad, Mike, Alan and Dan are all friends from Put-in-Bay. Josh, Aaron, Mike and Brent are sailing friends from Toledo.

Christy had 10 bridesmaids, including her sister Erica and best friend Jill as matron and maid of honor, respectively. All phases of her life were represented, with Kim and Crystal from Put-in-Bay; Kara, Kathy and Sary from her under graduate days at Notre Dame; and Melissa, Judy and Debbie from her years spent in graduate school at Northwestern and post-graduate as a resident of Chicago!

Before the wedding, the girls all got ready at the Frederick cottage, "Frederick's Rest Assured," on the West Shore of Put-in-Bay. Makeup and hair was done in papa Frederick's Garage, where there was plenty of space. As the Girls finished geeting ready, Ben arrived solo to see Christy for the first time in her wedding dress. How Beautiful Christy looked in her dress, Ben Could barely believe his eyes.

The ceremony was at the Mother of Sorrows Church -- the same little church Christy's parents got married in 40 years before! Although the Church only sat 150 people, attendees continued to show up and there was standing room only. Those who arrived late found their place as Ben and Christy took their vows before their family and friends.

After the ceremony, the whole wedding party -- and most of the guests -- rode in an antique car parade from the church, around the park downtown, and to the yacht club. Almost 30 antique cars , from Model A's to Model T's and everything in between, lined up for the event. Ben and Christy waved to everyone as they stopped traffic all over the Put-in-Bay en route to the reception!

The reception was held at the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club. It started with cocktails on the lawn and patio where guests mingled with the newlyweds, before moveing into the tent for dinner as the sun was setting. Both Erica and Jill as well as Eric gave entertaingin and ehartfelt speeches nefore Ben and Christy's First Dance and Dave's tear jerker of a dance with Christy. Afterwards, everyone put on their dancing shoes for Underwater People, one of our favorite bands from Chicago!

We hope that everyone had a good time visiting our little island and that you'll come back to see us soon!
