By Ferry

Once you get to Catawba or Port Clinton, you’ll have to take one of two ferry lines to the Island:

The Miller Ferry, which accommodates both passengers and cars, departs from Catawba to Put-in-Bay every half hour from 7:30 AM until 6:30 PM. Adults pay $12.00 round-trip, and cars are $28.00 round-trip. The Miller Ferry takes about 18 minutes to get to the Island and has free parking for your car on the mainland, if you do not want to take your car to the Island. ( or 1-800-500-2421)

The Jet Express, which accommodates passengers only, operates between downtown Port Clinton or Sandusky to downtown Put-in-Bay from 8:45 AM until 10:00 PM. Jet-powered catamarans make the trip in about 22 minutes. Adults pay $22 round-trip. ( or 1-800-245-1538)

Please visit the Websites or call the ferries for detailed ferry schedules and parking information.

Transportation on the Island

If you’d like, you can take your car over to the Island on the Miller Ferry. However, it is not necessary as transportation options are plentiful, and you can walk most anywhere else you would want to go.

Taxis can easily take you to your hotel. (Fare is typically $3/person, anywhere you need to go on the Island!) Several taxis are usually waiting at the ferry dock. Another option is to take the downtown bus from Miller Boat Line's dock to the Depot downtown for just $2 per person. The Depot is located across the street from the Bayshore Resort.

If you’d like to tour the Island, several places on the Island offer single and tandem bicycle rentals, as well as golf cart (2, 4 & 6 passengers) rentals. More information can be found at your hotel or at the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Island Attractions

Put-in-Bay offers a large variety of historical sites, museums, recreational activities, island tours, shopping, dining and more! There is more than what we can list but here’s a sneak preview:

Perry's International Peace Memorial

Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial is a constant reminder of the long-lasting peace between the United States and Canada. The National Monument is a 352-foot Doric column, which has an observation platform at the top. It is the third tallest national monument in the country, and has a free and very impressive visitor center. A "must see" Island attraction!

The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society offers a glimpse into Put-in-Bay's past, with a history film and an impressive Horton model ship collection.

Crystal Cave, the world's largest recorded geode, is located directly beneath Heineman Winery. A cave tour is included with tour of the winery.

New in 2004, the Put-in-Bay Butterfly House is a unique habitat featuring a large variety of exotic butterflies, surrounded by plants and flowers in a large atrium. You can take a narrated tour of Perry's Cave, which historical documents show was used by Oliver Hazard Perry and his troops during the War of 1812. Also at Perry’s Cave, the War of 18 Holes Mini-Golf is a world-class miniature putt-putt course.

Put-in-Bay tour train

The Put-in-Bay Tour Train is one of the best ways to see the island. A 55-minute narrated tour takes you all around the Island and makes stops at key locations around the Island, including the Monument, caves and winery.
